The Certificate in Theological Studies (in joint relationship with Oral Roberts University)

The Agape College/ORU Certificate Program is designed to be completed in two years if the student takes one course per semester. It consists of detailed scriptural studies coupled with practical applications that help prepare graduates to become leaders in their personal and public lives. The certificate program is derived from our highly sought-after diploma program, which has trained hundreds of people who are serving not only in ministry, but also in many walks of life. As they continue to practice the principles taught in the program's many excellent courses, our graduates are recognized as people of integrity, character, wisdom, and success.

Classes for many courses typically meet one evening per week from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. during each 15 week semester. In the 10 week summer term, classes are longer or taught more frequently per week for selected weeks. Other pre-arranged courses may be offered on an intensive basis at specially arranged times, for example whole day Saturday sessions for several weeks. The certificate program requires a minimum of 19-credit-hours for completion, which includes six courses and a one-credit-hour practicum.

The 19-credit-hour Certificate in Theological Studies program is recommended for all committed Christians who desire to know more about the Bible, learn who they are in Christ, become established in the Word, and apply their giftings in ministry to others. Credits earned may be applied toward the Advanced Certificate and the Diploma of Theological Studies at ORU, and credits may be applied toward advanced standing in one of several ORU bachelor degree programs.

The ORU Theological Studies Certificate through Agape College requires:
a. A one-credit-hour Ministry Practicum

Courses in the ORU Certificate Program will conform to the requirements of: 1) 37.5-45.0 contact hours per three-credit-hour course, 2) taught by a qualified instructor, and 3) use of ORU-approved course materials. The content of some courses also will include the topics offered in other Agape College programs, and the total contact hours may be accumulated from several topics along with group or individualized study in an intensive studies framework.

Note: ORU offers certificates in other topics, toward which some of the courses in the Certificate in Theological Studies may be applied. These other Certificates (Christian Caregiving and Biblical Studies) may be completed at ORU or through the ORU distance learning program.

Applicants who cannot afford full tuition and/or registration fees may apply for a partial scholarship/ sponsorship after the Application for Admission has been approved.
